| Highlights: | 7 days of fabulous diving on board the MV Serenade (diving these waters since 1992) covering the crescent-shaped chain of volcanic islands just north of Manado in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Deep trenches on either side of the islands funnel vast amounts of current borne nutrients to shallower depths. This means that practically the whole aquatic food chain is present in these waters. From marine mammals such as dolphins and pilot whales, predator pelagics of all kind, thousands of species of smaller reef dwellers, as well as hard and soft corals in brilliant abundance. The abundant reef life in these waters including white tips, large groupers, Napoleon wrasses, mantas, eagle rays, barracudas, schooling fish and reef fish and corals. | Itinerary: | Oct 11: Arriving into Manado in the afternoon, plan to board the boat straightaway. Early evening boat will sail ~6pm. Oct 12 - 18: Diving the Sangihe Talaud islands and probably north Manado way in/out. Plans are for 3 day dives and 1 night dive for Oct 12 - 17, with day dives only for the last day Oct 18. Islands tentatively covered include Bangka, Tagulandang, Ruang, Siau, Kahakitang, Mahengetang with dive sites such as The Labyrinth, Lave Flow, Underwater Volcano and many more. Oct 18: Transfer to Murex Resort for the last night. Oct 19: Transfer to Manado Airport between 9am - 5pm. Note: Detailed itin. will be provided later but will be subject to change depending on actual weather and tide conditions. The October window is supposed to be one of the best periods to be diving this part of the Indonesian waters. |
